Loves Drive-In
In the 1960's each of the two high schools had their own "cruising" destinations. Loves Drive-in on Illinois St across from the Dellwood Mall was one of the main spots for those attending Lee High School. Here with the angled roofline added years later, Loves is barely recognizable as it was then, a simple building with metal awning covers out front. I have a friend who years later said her Dad, curious about her nighttime activities, parked in the lot across the street and watched her "cruise" Loves 81 consecutive times. Loves has been a bar-b-que stand and is now a beauty salon. Silver City at right was once a Pizza Hut.
