The Vietnam Seminar included a distinquished panel of experts on the media and conduct of the Vietnam War. Two of the panelists [Galloway and Crandall] will be featured in the upcoming movie "We Were Soldiers Once and Young" starring Mel Gibson, Sam Elliott and Madeleine Stowe. An adaptation of Joe Galloway's book of the same name. Those included on the panel moderated by Bill Coombes were:
  • Joe Galloway, UPI correspondent and co-author of "We Were Soldiers Once and Young".
  • Bruce Crandall, combat helicopter pilot at LZ X-Ray and only one of seven U.S. Army aviators to be elected to the international organization, "Gathering of Eagles".
  • Prof. Doug Pike, attache at the U.S. Embassy Saigon 1961-1975 and leading authority on the Viet Cong. Advisor at the Paris Peace talks.

Besides the scheduled seminar meetings many of us had time to "smoke and joke" and to reflect on times gone by. In addition some amazing coincidences of people. places and events we had in common came to light an example of how we are all connected!
