Hank's Superette
Hank's Superette was at the corner of Cuthbert and "H" streets directly across from Midland Memorial Stadium. The store was in operation from the early 60's until probably the late 80's. The proprietor, Brutus Hanks, offered sundry household goods, fresh vegetables and fine meats. Mr. Hanks catered to the wealthy ladies and their maids in the neighborhood and minimally abided the kids who came in just to buy BB's. He could always be heard muttering, "Uh ha, uh ha....thank you", as he talked to the women customers. The store is now part of Stadium Sports, with Hank's old entrance being the side door to the sports store.
