"An Army Travels on it's Stomach"
Napolean Bonaparte
In the case of the Artiste, his stomach traveled on that much maligned and little respected implement of war, the Canned Ration, alias, "C" ration, "C"-Rat, "Rat's"or just plain "C's". Everyone had his favorite. Rare delicacies all. The names tell of the romance, Green Eggs and Ham, Spam in a Can, Ham and MF's. Fruit cocktail was heaven in the heat. Fruitcake was a dangerous weapon. Hot sauce was a necessity. All the conveniences of home in a cardboard box. Fully balanced and nutritional gastro-intestinal distress in a can. Four after dinner smokes [only for the brave in combat, smoking is Hazardous to your Health] and a packet of 'hot joe'. "TP": one each, single sheet, single ply. Life is good!
